Here are the basic requirements to make the LACOLA Surf Racing Team for this summer. All lifeguards (including alumni) are welcome to race at all competitions.* Those lifeguards who contribute to the team as indicated below shall make the 2012 LACOLA Surf Racing Team and thus benefit most directly.
What does Team Status get you?
Benefits vary by year, depending upon National’s location and the Team’s fundraising efforts. For the 2012 Nationals, LACOLA Surf Racing Team status gives you priority for receiving a team uniform, equipment transport to and from Cape May, New Jersey, and discounted accommodations**
How do you qualify for Team Status? Complete BOTH the following:
1. Volunteer to work at least one 4-hour shift at the LACOLA booth at Junior Lifeguard events (Additional weekday fundraisers may be added in June).

Hotel: Completing items in both #1 and #2 above will qualify you for discounted hotel rooms at the team hotel. The level of discount (hopefully 100%) will depend on how much we can sell at the Junior Guard events and may depend on how much each member volunteers (TBD by LACOLA Competition Committee)
Travel: To be determined pending fundraising
The goal of having a Surf Racing Team is to generate an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic group of competitors, all of whom have an equal opportunity to benefit from increased sponsorship, revenue and competition opportunities. Lifeguards who give their time and effort to improve the team and help raise funds shall benefit most for their effort. Any lifeguard who fulfills the requirements above will make the 2011 Surf Racing Team.
