Delray Beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida hosted the 2009 National Lifeguard Championships. The event featured lifeguards competing in swimming, paddling, rescues, surf skis, beach flags, boating and more. It was hot and humid with temperatures well into the 80's in and out of the water.
LA County started off strong, but at one point, Monmouth's huge team of Floridian watermen and women inched its way to within ten points of LA County. LA's crew was forced to dig deep and pull out a convincing win over the second place team. See official results here
